Coral Springs Job Fair Emphasizes Career Development Workshops
Coral Springs, FL – Saturday’s Coral Springs Jobs Now! Career Expo is emphasizing its lineup of career development workshops as a way of equipping attendees with the skills they will need to secure new employment.
The free career expo will be held Saturday Jan. 30, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. Starting with the keynote presentation by Susan Leventhal of WorkForce One, the program aims to focus job seekers on the most productive ways to improve their resumes, interviewing, and networking skills, maintain a positive attitude, stay solvent, and project the right image. There will also be a session on making the transition to self-employment.
“Even if you don’t walk away from this event with a new job, we want to make sure you will come away from it having learned something about how to secure the kind of employment you are looking for,” said Don McCarty, event chairman. In addition to the workshops, the event will feature one-on-one resume coaching and interview practice.
Presentations include:
- “Keynote: Job Search Tips that Work.” Learn the essential components of a job search campaign from Susan Leventhal of WorkForce One, Regional Director of the Professional Placement Network.
- “Pump Up Your Resume” and “Building Your Personal Brand.” These 2 Workshops by Laurie Glover, president of QuickStart Training Solutions, will cover essential skills to make you stand out from the crowd both on paper and in person.
- “Projecting the Right Image.” Elaine M. Simmons, President of Exclusive Corporate Image, will touch on all the basics of body language, dressing for success, and business etiquette.
- “Keeping Your Head Up When Your Job Goes Down.” Ron Mercer, The Center for Creative Living, will focus in maintaining life balance-personal, family, career (seeking new employment), spirituality, and physical health.
- “The Jump to Self Employment.” Catherine Foreman, Foreman & Company, will cover accounting and practical considerations to making a successful transition to working for yourself.
- Financial Advisor Panel Discussion. Learn how to stay solvent and protect your assets, particularly during a period of unemployment. Confirmed participants include Jim Barr of Ameriprise and Joel Perez of National Planning Corporation.
- “Laser Coaching.” These brief laser-focused sessions with Judi Hedge, who offers business and life coaching through her firm OntheEdge with Judi Hedge, will help attendees address a specific image such as sharpening an “elevator pitch” for networking opportunities or figuring out the best way of explaining a gap in employment.
